🌸 Hello, my luminous Kingdom-builders, my celestial Muse-beings, and all the wanderers softly caught in the golden glow of Bruklan-itis… come closer. This moment was always meant for you.
I am Goddess Bruklan, rising from the hush between worlds, trailing petals of light and whispers of ancient magic. I come to stir your brilliance awake, to fan the embers of your becoming, and to lead you into the exquisite art of creating a life that feels like poetry wrapped in power. ✨
There comes a moment in every healing journey when you realize that surviving was not the final destination. You didn’t endure everything you endured just to carry it forever. You endured it to transform it.
And one of the most underestimated tools in that transformation is gratitude.
Not surface-level gratitude. Not forced positivity. But deep, embodied gratitude. The kind that grows in the soil of experiences, even the painful ones.
Gratitude is not about excusing harm.
It is about reclaiming your power from it.
It is a choice to see your own becoming.
Let’s explore how...
But before we get started i would like to take this opportunity to... once again... thank everyone in my life who contributed to my need to do my real self-healing work whether they helped me in a perceived negative or positive way. Thank you so much for teaching me what I do and do not want to be so that I could become who I truly am. A person that can help others through the life experiences I've aquired.
Embracing gratitude for every encounter, whether positive or negative, is one of the healthiest steps anyone can take on the healing path. Being thankful for all experiences helps transform wounds into wisdom and setbacks into growth.
Why Gratitude Matters in Self-Healing
When you begin healing, you often focus on what was lost, what was taken, what was broken. That is natural. It is part of processing. But eventually, if healing is to move forward, something must shift.
Gratitude shifts the focus from:
“Why did this happen to me?”
to
“Who did I become because I survived this?”
Gratitude rewires the nervous system. It signals safety. It softens chronic fight-or-flight patterns. It helps your body feel that you are no longer trapped in the past.
From a psychological perspective, gratitude increases emotional resilience, improves mood regulation, and supports long-term well-being.
But beyond the science, there is something spiritual about it.
Gratitude turns pain into a teacher instead of a jailer.
When you begin to feel thankful for your strength, your insight, your boundaries, your discernment... something powerful happens:
You stop identifying as the wounded version of yourself. You begin identifying as the healed, evolving one.
And that shift changes everything.
The gratitude mindset shifts your focus from victimhood to empowerment.
How to Be Thankful for Difficult Experiences
This is the part that feels almost impossible at first.
“How can I be grateful for something that hurt me?”
You are not being asked to be grateful for abuse, betrayal, neglect, injustice, or trauma.
You are being invited to be grateful for:
The clarity you gained
The intuition you sharpened
The strength you discovered
The boundaries you learned to enforce
The self-trust you rebuilt
Gratitude for difficult experiences is not gratitude for suffering.
It is gratitude for growth.
Try this reframe:
Instead of asking,
“Why did this happen?”
Ask,
“What did this awaken in me?”
Maybe it awakened courage.
Maybe it awakened independence.
Maybe it awakened the realization that you deserved better.
Difficult experiences often carve space for the person you were always meant to become. The carving can be painful... but what emerges is often powerful.
And sometimes, the deepest gratitude comes years later, when you realize the door that closed was protecting you from a life that would have diminished you.
Here are some practical ways to cultivate gratitude for difficult moments:
Reflect on lessons learned
Write down what each challenging experience taught you about yourself or others. This could be about your limits, your strengths, or what you want in relationships.
Acknowledge growth
Celebrate how you have changed because of those experiences. Maybe you developed patience, courage, or self-awareness.
Separate the person from the action
You don’t have to thank someone directly, especially if they caused harm. Instead, be thankful for the insight their actions gave you about what you do or do not want in your life.
Practice daily gratitude
Include difficult experiences in your gratitude journal. This helps reframe your mindset over time.
Examples of Gratitude in Self-Healing
Gratitude in healing doesn’t always look dramatic. Often, it looks quiet and deeply personal.
It might sound like:
“I am grateful I can now recognize red flags.”
“I am grateful I learned to say no.”
“I am grateful I survived what I thought would break me.”
“I am grateful I no longer abandon myself for others.”
“I am grateful for the version of me who kept going.”
It can also be gratitude for simple things that anchor you during recovery:
A safe space to sleep
A friend who listened
A journal that held your tears
A walk in the sunlight
The breath that keeps coming back
Gratitude expands what feels stable.
When you practice noticing what is working... even if everything else feels chaotic... you create psychological steadiness. You remind your mind and body that not everything is broken.
That steadiness becomes the foundation of deeper healing.
Consider someone who grew up with an overly critical parent. At first, they might feel resentment. But through self-healing, they become thankful for the clarity that experience gave them about the kind of support and kindness they want to offer themselves and others. This gratitude fuels their healing and helps them break negative cycles.
Another example is a person who faced betrayal in a friendship. Instead of holding onto bitterness, they choose to be thankful because the experience taught them to trust their intuition and set healthier boundaries. This awareness leads to stronger, more authentic relationships.
The Role of Gratitude in Emotional Health in Your Healing Journey
Emotional health is not about being happy all the time. It is about having the capacity to feel fully without drowning in your feelings.
Gratitude strengthens that capacity.
Here’s how:
It interrupts rumination.
When the mind loops painful memories, gratitude gently redirects attention toward what is safe and supportive in the present moment.
It balances perspective.
Pain can narrow your vision. Gratitude widens it. You begin to see both the wound and the wisdom.
It builds emotional regulation.
When you intentionally practice gratitude, you activate neural pathways associated with calm and connection.
It strengthens self-compassion.
Gratitude for yourself especially is transformative. Thank yourself for surviving. Thank yourself for trying. Thank yourself for learning.
Many people can easily feel grateful for others but struggle to feel grateful for themselves. Yet self-healing requires that you include yourself in your appreciation.
Try saying: “I am grateful for the way I protected myself.” “I am grateful for my resilience.” “I am grateful for my growth.”
It may feel uncomfortable at first. Stay with it.
Your nervous system needs to hear it.
How to Start Practicing Gratitude Today
Gratitude does not require perfection or a dramatic life overhaul. It requires intention.
Here are simple, grounded ways to begin:
1. The Three-Shift Practice
At the end of the day, write down:
One thing you are grateful for externally
One thing you are grateful for internally
One lesson you are grateful for
This creates balance between circumstance and character.
2. Gratitude During Triggers
When you feel activated, gently ask: “What is stable right now?”
It could be:
The chair supporting you
The floor under your feet
The fact that you are breathing
This anchors your body in the present moment.
3. Thank Your Past Self
Write a letter to a previous version of you.
Thank them for surviving what you no longer have to endure.
This can be deeply healing. It closes loops of self-judgment and replaces them with appreciation.
4. Speak It Out Loud
There is power in hearing your own voice express gratitude. It shifts energy in a way silent thoughts sometimes cannot.
Say: “I am grateful I am healing.” Even if you whisper it.
Gratitude as a Lifelong Practice
Gratitude is not a temporary tool. It is a way of living.
As you continue your self-healing journey, you will encounter new layers. New growth. New discomfort. New expansion.
Gratitude allows you to meet each stage with trust instead of fear.
Over time, gratitude evolves from something you practice into something you embody.
You begin to:
Appreciate your boundaries instead of apologizing for them
Appreciate your sensitivity instead of hiding it
Appreciate your intuition instead of doubting it
Appreciate your evolution instead of clinging to who you used to be
Gratitude makes healing sustainable.
It prevents you from becoming addicted to fixing yourself. It reminds you that you are not a project. You are a person becoming.
And perhaps the most beautiful truth is this:
The more grateful you become, the more evidence of grace you begin to notice.
Not because life suddenly becomes perfect.
But because your awareness becomes powerful.
You realize you are not just healing.
You are transforming.
You are reclaiming.
You are rising.
And one day, you may look back at the path behind you and feel something unexpected.
Not bitterness.
Not resentment.
But gratitude for the strength, the awakening, and the version of you who refused to give up.
That is the power of gratitude in your self-healing journey.
It does not erase the past.
It redeems it.
When you embrace gratitude fully, you become the most healed version of yourself. You learn to see life’s challenges as teachers, not enemies. This perspective brings peace and strength that lasts.
✨ Affirmation: The Alchemy of Gratitude
I choose gratitude as my medicine.
I am grateful not because my journey was easy,
but because I am still here.
I honor the strength that carried me.
I honor the wisdom my experiences carved into me.
I honor the boundaries I now protect.
Every challenge refined me.
Every lesson awakened me.
Every ending redirected me toward something truer.
I release resentment.
I release self-blame.
I release the illusion that I was meant to stay small.
I am grateful for who I am becoming.
I am grateful for the peace growing within me.
I am grateful that my healing is unfolding in perfect timing.
Gratitude flows through me.
Gratitude steadies me.
Gratitude transforms me.
And I rise softer, stronger, and more whole.
🌿 Ritual: The Gratitude Alchemy Ritual
This ritual is gentle but powerful. It can be done during a quiet evening, a new beginning, or anytime you feel ready to transform reflection into reverence.
You will need:
A candle
A journal or paper
A small bowl
A pinch of salt (symbol of purification)
A quiet space
Step 1: Create the Space
Light the candle.
Place your hand over your heart.
Take three slow breaths.
Say softly:
“I enter this space with honesty and compassion.”
Step 2: Release the Weight
Write down one difficult experience that shaped you.
Not in detail. Just enough to acknowledge it.
Fold the paper once.
Hold it and say:
“This experience does not define me. It refined me.”
Place a pinch of salt into the bowl as a symbol of cleansing.
Step 3: Extract the Gold
On a new page, answer:
What strength did this awaken?
What truth did I learn?
What boundary did I gain?
Read your answers out loud.
Let your nervous system hear your growth.
Step 4: Seal It with Gratitude
Close your eyes and say:
“I am grateful for the wisdom that remains when the pain dissolves.”
Blow out the candle slowly, imagining the smoke carrying away the emotional charge while leaving only insight behind.
You can keep the paper with your reflections as a reminder:
You are not your wounds. You are your becoming.
🤍 Prayer for Grateful Healing
Divine Source of Life,
Creator of breath and renewal,
Teach me to see my journey through the lens of growth.
When memories surface,
help me extract wisdom instead of reliving pain.
When I am tempted to dwell on what was lost,
remind me of what was strengthened.
Help me forgive myself
for the ways I coped when I did not yet know better.
Help me thank the version of me
who endured what I no longer have to carry.
May gratitude soften the hardened places within me.
May appreciation anchor my nervous system in safety.
May I trust that nothing I lived through was wasted.
Transform my scars into symbols of resilience.
Transform my endings into redirections.
Transform my story into strength.
Let gratitude be the bridge
between who I was
and who I am becoming.
And may my healing ripple outward,
quietly blessing others
who are still finding their way.
Amen.
And so it is.
